In 2010, Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo introduced the charismatic Gentoo penguins, and they have since been promising unparalleled visitor experiences. Hailing from the frosty realms around the Palmer peninsula and Sub Antarctic islands, these 16 charismatic birds (eight males and eight females) now enjoy a meticulously designed habitat right in the heart of the desert.
Here, temperatures mimic the Sub Antarctic climate, with air chilled between 2-4°C and waters at 5-7°C. Even their annual light cycle is recreated, meaning penguin winter during Dubai’s summer. Multi-level designs, slides, and climbing spots ensure lively antics. Visitors are offered an encounter with these delightful birds.
