Billie Jean King is certainly an iconic athlete and kept the world spellbound with her incredible tennis skills. At 12 years old, she had an epiphany that she would one day become a world-class tennis player, her affirmation soon turned into reality.

King became number 1 in women’s tennis in 1966. Although she had found stability in her career she had to strive hard in her personal life as she did not come out of her closet because of societal pressures. It was in 1966 that she met the South African tennis player Ilana Kloss and developed a relationship with her.

The duo secretly tied the knot in October 2018, but only revealed about their relationship in her memoir, All In released in August 2021. Only the former New York City Mayor David Dinkins and his wife presided over their secret wedding and hence came to know about it. We are glad that Billie Jean finally found contentment in the arms of the woman she loved.
