In high school, being a member of the cheerleading team was the pinnacle of social status, and everyone had dreams of making the squad. Although the pyramid was a lot of fun, the part of cheerleading when we got to do acrobatics was our favorite. Our generation members were the last to be permitted to try out for cheerleading teams as guys, but those days are long gone.

In this picture, the woman is acting entirely oblivious. The male cheerleader lifting her is watching her performance as she puts on a show for him. Of course, it’s possible that he was merely checking to see that she was accurately keeping her balance and dancing. In any event, there is no question in our minds that their performance was outstanding.
