Baseball is perhaps one of the least odd sports there are. There is a ball, but its sole purpose is to indicate when runners may leave the field. Therefore, in a more literal sense, the primary objective of this game is not to hit the ball but rather to advance around the bases while attempting to avoid being eliminated by force out. The base runner’s turn had arrived far earlier than anticipated, and the catcher wasn’t taking any chances by allowing him to remain in the game.

The base runner’s time had come. Not only did he knock him out with a punch, but he also tagged him out with the ball when he touched him. The Giants most likely weren’t expecting it, but the catcher most likely thought to themselves, “This is only the beginning; we’re going to get you guys out.”
