GLI EFFETTI DELL’ESPLOSIONE NUCLEARE IN BIELORUSSIA
Nonostante la centrale nucleare di Chernobyl e Pripyat si trovino in Ucraina, non è stata l’Ucraina il paese più colpito. In realtà, è stata la Bielorussia a ricevere la massima quantità di contaminazione dopo l’esplosione, e ha subito un deterioramento diffuso delle condizioni di salute della sua popolazione. Poiché la città di Pripyat è vicina al confine tra l’Ucraina e la Bielorussia, il fumo radioattivo si è propagato fino al paese confinante anziché diffondersi nel resto dell’Ucraina. Secondo una stima, circa tre quarti del materiale radioattivo si è depositato nei campi bielorussi, e questo potrebbe essere il motivo per cui la Svezia è stato il primo paese a rendersi conto degli effetti radioattivi.
