IL COSTO FINANZIARIO CHE HA PORTATO AL DECLINO DELL’UNIONE SOVIETICA
Sebbene ci siano state molte ragioni per il crollo dell’Unione Sovietica nel 1991, alcuni economisti sono dell’opinione che una somma di 18 milioni di dollari spesa per la centrale nucleare abbia contribuito al suo declino. La condizione economica dell’Unione Sovietica fu così gravemente colpita che un ritorno era quasi impossibile. Se gli 18 milioni di dollari vengono adeguati all’inflazione, la cifra attuale è di 41 miliardi di dollari. Mikhail Gorbachev, il leader sovietico dell’epoca, aveva affermato che una tale somma era stata spesa solo per contenere l’intera area e le spese sanitarie erano separate. Secondo i dati recenti, l’Ucraina spende circa dal 5 al 7 percento del fondo totale per questioni legate a Chernobyl.
