Radioactive Iodine — The Early Killer

As we came to know, radioactive iodine was primarily responsible for the loss of lives and the disastrous effects it had on first responders and plant workers proved to be lethal. After the explosion occurred, a few surviving workers witnessed a blue light around the reactor and later on, it was revealed that the ionization of air was the main cause. Workers breathed in the iodine that had been floating around and eventually their thyroid gland got affected. As a matter of fact, a majority of the workers lost their lives owing to thyroid cancer, according to several accident lawyers and experts.
