This is a 12-year-old Stephen Hawking. Brilliance personified! A happy face with sharpness in the eyes. Born in 1942 in Oxford, Hawking was brought up in a family where knowledge and education were always of a higher preference. His contemporaries gave him the nickname ‘Einstein’. A certified genius and a scholar that Hawking was, he didn’t fare well at school initially. But, from the time he fell in love with mathematics, his life changed for the better. At 17, he got an admission in Oxford’s University College, and while attending his classes, it is said that the estimated time he spent with books studying was near about a whopping 3000 hours! He took a retirement from life this year and we miss him a lot. Who doesn’t?
