In a significant 2020 development, Israeli agricultural products were displayed for the first time in the UAE at the Fresh Market in Ras Al Khor, managed by the Dubai Municipality. The close geographical proximity allows fresh produce to reach the local markets within hours of harvest.
The move followed the agreement between the UAE and Israel to establish diplomatic and business ties, focusing on boosting investment, tourism, and direct flights. Introducing these products aligns with Dubai’s strategy to diversify its import sources. Shlomi Fogel, chairman of the exporting company Carmel Agrexco, emphasized the advantages of advanced agriculture for the Emirates.
