The Sports Car Ambulance
In 2014, as a part of Dubai’s Smart Government program, the Lotus Evora S, hailed as the world’s swiftest ambulance, was introduced. This sports car, retrofitted for medical emergencies, boasts the capability to reach speeds of 186 miles/hour, slashing response times to just 3-4 minutes.
Revealed at Dubai’s Gitex, this isn’t a typical ambulance; it’s unable to ferry patients. However, it comes with nearly all emergency apparatuses, including cardiac defibrillators and oxygen bags. Paramedics can swiftly arrive and provide vital medical interventions. Each operator receives training to harness the car’s full potential, leveraging its 3.5-litre V6 engine that can accelerate from 0-60 miles/hour in a mere 5.2 seconds.
