At the 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon, these two SL600 roadsters from Kuruma JPN stood out, not for speed, but for sparkle. Crafted by D.A.D in partnership with Garson, these vehicles sported an astonishing 300,000 Swarovski crystals each, complemented by fur interiors. Such ostentation inevitably raised eyebrows, with many questioning the rationale behind owning such an ornate automobile.
Interestingly, the cars faded from the limelight after their 2013 appearance but not before sparking a minor controversy in 2014. Business Insider reported that Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal of Saudi Arabia, a known car enthusiast with an extensive collection, emphatically denied owning one of these crystal-covered wonders despite rampant rumors to the contrary.
