42 Iconic Celebrities From The Golden Age That Are Still Alive – For Them Age Really Is Just A Number

Diana Serra Cary – 1918

Another surviving star from the silent era, Diana Serra Cary had started her career when she was only one and half years old. She was a child actress who didn’t join the entertainment industry once she turned adult. The glitz and glamor of tinsel town never seemed to allure her. She chose to be a film historian instead and took writing as her profession. Diana is, in fact, her pseudonym. When she was a child actress, she was called Peggy-Jean Montgomery. Between 1921 to 1924, she did close to 150 short films. Though she earned a lot as a child actress, things were not so good once she left the stage. She ran away from home in order to escape her parents’ further attempts to take her back to acting. Acting conditions were not so favorable back then, and she has documented all that in her books, too. She is on the verge of hitting a century now. Hope she has a great pension and insurance plan!
