Nancy Olson – 1928
Nancy Olson, who mostly played good girl roles in 50s and 60s films, is still in the pink of her health. It had been these small roles that catapulted her from obscurity to stardom, but among the numerous films and TV shows that she has appeared in, Sunset Boulevard is our favorite. The black-and-white classic still makes it to the top of critic’s choice lists, and Nancy’s character (Betty Schaefer) was probably the only bright spot in the cheapjack story of Joe Gillis and Desmond. She later acted in many Disney films, and although she faded away from the glitzy show business too soon, Nancy never had to opt for a reverse mortgage to pay for her surgery and treatment. Yes, she is enjoying her retirement, but don’t be surprised if you see her back again on the screen as she continues to make uncredited appearances, albeit occasionally.
