Sophie Wanted To Be On TV
In 2018, CBS News 8’s “Morning News” anchors had an eventful day when a scarlet ibis appeared on live TV. This bird species is medium-sized to large, related to storks, and closely related to spoonbills. The birdie’s name was Sophie, and she was an ambassador from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
During the segment about Zoo Day, Sophie perched atop the head of Nichelle Medina. The Emmy-winning reporter stayed professional despite the surprise and calmly continued the feature. On the other hand, Eric Kahnert, Medina’s colleague, was not as comfortable with the situation as was clear from the photo. Overall, it was an exciting day for the anchors.
