The Act About Treasures
In 1996, this statute was enacted by the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Everyone who comes across an object that they believe may be a treasure is required by law to report their find to the appropriate authorities as soon as possible.
In addition to that, you must act by this legislation. In addition, the Treasure Act of 1996 requires that any person who comes across an object that is at least three centuries old, is made up of at least 10% precious metals, and is not a coin, must report their find to the local coroner within fourteen days of making the discovery (14 days).
