David Cheriton is a Canadian computer scientist, Stanford professor, billionaire, philanthropist, and venture capitalist investor.  David and another well-known investor named Andy Bechtolsheim struck gold by being the first investors in Google. Andy and David each gave the grad students, and Larry Page and Sergey Brin each contributed a check for $100,000 in 1998 to start their search engine project.

David went on to become the richest college professor in the world. And although his net worth runs in billions, he is still an active professor taking the position of a non-teaching role at Stanford.

His other investments have been Arista Networks, Kealia, and Granite Systems. Kealia and Granite Systems have been sold to various companies. David Cheriton’s current net worth stands at $14.36 billion CAN ($11.4 billion US).
