Assistido por mais de 2,5 bilhões de pessoas ao redor do mundo, o casamento de Kate Middleton e Príncipe William é considerado um dos maiores casamentos de todos os tempos. Enquanto o noivo, militar, usou o uniforme de gala oficial da Guarda Irlandesa, a noiva optou por um vestido de mangas de renda criado pela designer Sarah Burton, estilista chefe da grife britânica Alexander McQueen. Kate usou ainda uma tiara, ofertada pela rainha Isabel, e um buquê desenhado por Shane Connolly. O casal Beckham e o cantor Elton John também estavam entre as 1900 pessoas convidadas para a cerimônia religiosa, além de autoridades, diplomatas, familiares e outros amigos pessoais do casal. Após a cerimônia, os noivos deixaram a Abadia de Westminster em uma carruagem aberta, em uma procissão, que terminou no Palácio de Buckingham com beijos na sacada e uma multidão fervorosa com o Duque e Duquesa de Cambridge.
