Mais beaucoup de gens se sont souvent interrogés sur le changement soudain de ses traits. En fait, c’est un accident de voiture qui a endommagé la pommette et le nez de Hamill. Une intervention chirurgicale majeure a été nécessaire pour réparer les parties endommagées, modifiant légèrement ses traits. En fait, Hamill était sûr que son apparence changée ruinerait sa carrière et le mènerait à la faillite. Heureusement, cela ne s’est pas produit et, à bien y penser, l’accident s’est avéré être une assurance pour l’acteur.
