Fue un hombre hermoso en su juventud, Val Kilmer parece haber perdido el encanto a los cincuenta y cinco años, con su gran cuerpo y su doble barbilla. La audiencia amó a Val Kilmer en películas como Top Gun, Real Genius y Top Secret! Su hijo Jack Kilmer es muy parecido a su padre, de tal palo tal astilla.
