Sugar Ray Leonard is one of the greatest boxers of all time. He had an active boxing career from 1977 to 1997, winning numerous titles. His prestigious titles include world titles in five weight divisions, the lineal championship in three weight divisions, and the welterweight title’s undisputed king. Besides this, Leonard was part of an exclusive clique of boxers such as The Fabulous Four, who fought each other throughout the 1980s.
The group consisted of other famous boxers like Roberto Durán, Thomas Hearns, Marvin Hagler, and Leonard. Leonard’s hefty resume consisted of a feat of 36-3-1, and he also was the first boxer to win $100 million in purses. Some of his marquee fights were in the headlines, especially the split bouts with Duran, one famous rematch with Duran made history.
There were also victories over Hearns and Hagler, which deserves mention. Leonard’s retirement was in 1997. He continues to steal the spotlight as an actor and TV analyst. No wonder his net worth as of today stands at $120 million.
