Charlie Watts, el baterista de los Rolling Stones, falleció el 24 de agosto de 2021, a la edad de 80 años, luego de verse obligado a cancelar la gira estadounidense reprogramada de la banda a principios de este mes debido a complicaciones de un procedimiento médico exitoso. “Charlie fue un amado esposo, padre y abuelo”, dijo un portavoz en un comunicado después de su fallecimiento.
A pesar de su admiración por los grandes del jazz como Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Elvin Jones, Roy Haynes y Philly Joe Jones, Watts, que era exquisito pero inexpresivo, pasó 60 años de su vida tocando rock, su segundo género favorito.
