These Celebrity Mega-Mansions Are Now Worthless

Tommy Hilfiger’s Mansion – Greenwich, Connecticut

On the Market Since: 2020
Total Area: 13,344 square feet
Initial Value: $48 million*

On the market now is one of the newest mega-mansions on the list. Sotheby’s International sells Tommy Hilfiger’s Greenwich, Connecticut property for $47.5 million. Rich New Yorkers have been known to leave the city in droves in recent years; this is a continuation of that pattern. Chateau Paterno, the original name of Hilfiger’s castle, was erected in 1939 for Charles Paterno. A Yale alumnus, Greville Rickard, was brought in to build it by the real estate magnate. Twenty years later, art collector Joseph Hirshhorn bought the property and used it to hold 6,000 works of art from the 19th and 20th centuries.

According to the Wall Street Journal, he chose to list his property for sale after learning that the real estate market was “strong.” Hilfiger and his family are moving to Palm Beach, Florida. His 1939 house has 13,344 square feet in size. This sprawling estate’s amenities list includes water and rose gardens, a four-car garage, a greenhouse, and a guest cottage. So yet, no one has expressed interest in the property, which has astonished the agents.
