Tammy Duckworth and Bryan Bowlsbey – Together Since 1993

Ladda Tammy Duckworth is an American politician and retired Army National Guard lieutenant colonel who served as the junior United States Senator from Illinois since 2017. In her illustrious career, she also adds the distinction of being a member of the Democratic Party, representing Illinois’s 8th district in the United States House of Representatives from 2013 to 2017.

When Bryan Bowlsbey met Duckworth in ROTC at George Washington University, they did not immediately hit it off, since she overheard Brian making a derogatory comment on women in the army. But he later apologized and helped her clean her M16 rifle. Both of them served the army, with Bowlsbey becoming a major in the Army National Guard and Tammy going on to serve as a helicopter pilot in Iraq. Bowlsbey was right beside Duckworth’s side in the hospital when both of her legs got amputated after a helicopter crash in 2005.

And he still is there, right beside her as her loving husband, her partner. The duo has been married for 25 years of marriage, and it is clear that Bowlsbey and Duckworth share an incredible bond. They also share two kids that make their bond even stronger!
