Sometimes things don’t appear as they seem – just like Sally Field’s character who’s much older than Forrest in the film. In reality, though, Field is only about ten years older than Tom Hanks. Her character was given a look that made her look much older than she really was and it worked out quite convincingly. We should probably thank the people responsible for the make-up team, truly an insurance against appearing her real age!
