Bubba Who?
The role of Bubba Blue had at first been offered to actors Dave Chappelle, and Ice Cube but they turned down the offer. It was then that Mykelti Williamson was cast to play the role of Forrest’s army buddy, Bubba. Later, after the phenomenal success of the movie, both Dave and Ice Cube acknowledged the fact that they had thought the script was a joke and that it was sure to fail, even admitting that they regretted rejecting the role. At least they didn’t bet their home insurance on what they considered would be a sure-shot failure, phew!
