James Avery
James Avery played the much-loved character of Uncle Phil, the father of the Banks children and uncle to Will Smith. Despite having a notoriously impish nephew and naughty children, Uncle Phil was the epitome of an understanding and loving father/uncle. James Avery was a very talented actor, and hence, even after the show’s conclusion, Avery had an amazingly successful career. He was especially known as a voice actor, and one of his most notable work was as Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. His other significant roles in TV shows like That 70’s Show, The Closer, and L.A. Law secured his place in Hollywood and gave his banking habits a boost. Unfortunately, he died an untimely death when he had some complications during an open heart surgery. Though his life insurance must have covered his family, his absence is probably still felt by them.
