Sein Talent führte ihn von den Brettern, die die Welt bedeuten, bis in die Weiten des X-Men-Universums. Sir Ian McKellen ist nicht nur auf der Leinwand ein Superheld. Seinen ersten Applaus erntete er im Royal National Theatre, dort, wo jede Staubwolke von Dramatik umhüllt ist. Mit seinem schauspielerischen Können erhellte er bald die große Leinwand und eroberte die Herzen der Kinofans.
Sein Mut zur eigenen Identität wurde schließlich auch von der Queen gewürdigt, mit einem adeligen “Sir” vor seinem Namen. Und obwohl er und Sean Mathias getrennte Wege gingen, sucht Gandalf weiter nach seinem Frodo. Solange es nicht Sauron ist, hoffen wir alle auf ein Happy End für Sir Ian.
