As the author of A Song of Ice and Fire, which includes the much popular Game of Thrones, George RR Martin is known to have no mercy for the characters he creates as he unpredictably kills off many of his main characters.
Thanks to the immense popularity of the TV series Game of Thrones, which was adapted from his novel, George RR Martin now makes $15 million a year, but he hasn’t let fame and fortune change his lifestyle a bit. Instead of living in a dead-costly mansion, he has chosen to live in a modest and nondescript home in Santa Fe in New Mexico.
He actually owns two houses, both on the same lane. He stacks his books and his wife Parris McBride’s collectible figurines of Lord of the Rings in one house while the couple lives in the other one. According to the 64-year-old, he doesn’t want fame to go into his head. Wonderful!
