In 2012, Orlando became the first LGBT professional boxer. The Puerto Rican boxer was proud of his coming out and was welcomed to the LGBT community. A year later, he decided to marry his boyfriend, Jose Manuel Colon. They’ve been a happy couple since, with Orlando using his platform to spread awareness regarding important topics such as LGBT Rights and Breast Cancer Awareness.
He did this by wearing rainbow boxing shorts and pink gloves. Moreover, he has also stated that he wishes to be a proper role model for his kids in case they ever become interested in a boxing career. Embracing his orientation has helped Orlando improve his lifestyle even more!
