El actor ha actuado en más 20 telenovelas y es uno de los más pedidos por los televidentes. Algunas de sus telenovelas son La mujer de Judas, Cielo rojo, Pecados ajenos, Decisiones, entre otras. Mauricio estuvo casado una vez y contrató a un abogado para divorciarse. Se casó con su nueva esposa en el 2007 y desde entonces han llevado una vida feliz.
