The retired professional boxer from Panama competed between 1968 and 2001. He laid his hands on a number of world championship titles in the middleweight, light middleweight, welterweight, and lightweight divisions. Roberto Durian is only the second boxer who competed over a time period of fifty years.

Throughout his career, he was popular for his versatility. He was a technical brawler and was also known for his punching and amazing defensive abilities. The Ring magazine hailed him as the 5th greatest fighter of the last eight decades. Duran registered 103 wins out of the 119 matches he played. 70 of his wins have been through knockouts.

The Associated Press voted him as the best lightweight of the last century. However, many of his colleagues and critics consider him to be the greatest lightweight in boxing history. His net worth stands at an estimated $3 million.
