Dr. Dre est aussi bien un pilier du hip-hop aux Etats-Unis que de la musique afro-américaine de façon générale grâce à ses activités de producteur. Il a commencé avec le groupe N.W.A, formé à Compton en Californie, dans les années 80 pour aider à l’émergence d’artistes comme Eminem et Snoop Dogg.
Dre ou Andre Romell Young de son vrai nom a en outre fondé le label Aftermath Entertainment et Beats Electronics en plus d’avoir été cofondateur de Death Row Records. Forbes estime sa fortune personnelle autour de 400 millions d’euros. Fort de son statut, Dre a multiplié les conquêtes, dont la plus récentes serait la chanteuse Apryl Shantell Jones, bien que dernière n’a rien confirmé à ce titre.
