Michelle Thomas était connu en tant que la copine de Steve Urken, Myra Monkhouse dans La Vie de Famille et aussi en tant que la copine de Theo, Justice Phillips dans le Cosby Show. Michelle a été diagnostiquée avec un cancer rare appelé tumeur desmoplastique intra-abdominale à petites cellules rondes. Elle est morte le 22 ou 23 décembre 1998. Dans son testament, elle a demandé à être enterrée selon ses croyances musulmanes.
