Steven, Caroline’s husband, serves in the United States Armed Forces. The active duty member informs his wife that his deployment is about to extend by two weeks. He also informed them that he was sending her a special gift, as a way to make up for the extended stay out of the home. Caroline was excited to know about the special gift, but her initial excitement quickly turned into anger. She cannot believe what Steven has done.

Unpacking the Gift

Caroline was full of excitement when she saw the gift box. She was all keyed up to see what was inside the box. The taped-up box, with colorful ribbons around it, looked tempting and anybody would feel excited about such a lovely gift box. Caroline was no exception.

As Steven’s deployment was extended, it only meant more hardship for Caroline, who is also the mother of Steven’s only child. However, Steven wanted to make up for it by sending a gift. Caroline also had big expectations as Steven has never disappointed her.

This Was Not What She Expected

The box, wrapped up with colorful packing material, looked tempting. Caroline could not wait anymore as she was super-excited to open the gift since she heard the news of it arriving. However, her excitement died off too soon as she found some foils and empty packets inside the box. She was least expecting this type of material inside the box.

She started searching for that coveted something. She was looking for a gift from Steven that would bring a smile to his face. Did he play a prank on her? No, Steven was not that kind of a person. But where was the gift?

She Took The Final Call

This was not what she expected. After so many days of waiting, all she could find inside the box were some empty packets and foils. She was fuming as she thought Steven had failed to deliver on his promise, something that is highly unlikely of him.

The next day, Caroline decided to call it quits. She downloaded the necessary documents from the internet for filing a divorce lawsuit and she even called her lawyer. She had signed all the papers and was all set to send them to Steven. She did not even want to see him again. What made her take such a big decision?
