Some Political Leaders Are Living Large While Pretending to Understand the Struggle

Jimmy Carter (1924–2024) – $10 Million

Jimmy Carter may have been a U.S. president, but he never lived like a billionaire. With an estimated net worth of $10 million, he made his fortune through book sales, speaking engagements, and a lifetime of public service. Before politics, he was a peanut farmer from Plains, Georgia.

He became the 39th President in 1977 and is best known for brokering the Camp David Accords between Egypt and Israel. After leaving the White House in 1981, he co-founded The Carter Center, which is dedicated to human rights and disease prevention. His work earned him a Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. He wrote 32 books covering topics from politics to poetry.
