Mary Carlisle’s angelic look was the reason why a door of opportunity opened for her in Hollywood. She and her mom were eating a meal at the Universal Studios canteen when studio executive Carl Laemmie Jr. noticed her and recommended her for a screen test. Of course, instead of going all out and experiencing what Hollywood had to offer, Mary took a step back and finished her education first. When Mary Carlisle started out in Tinseltown, her first role was uncredited, but her role in College Humor catapulted her into star status after critics and audience alike praised her for her performance. She appeared in over 60 films throughout her career before taking retirement and settling down with her husband James Edward Blakeley and their son. Yes, she did have a long and good life, and when she passed away on August 1, 2018, her fans and even Hollywood stars paid their respects for such a talented actress.
