Irene Ryan – Stroke Complications

Irene Ryan (1902 – 1973) was an American actress who found success in radio, film, tv, and Broadway. Ryan is mostly known for her portrayal of Granny, the mother-in-law of Buddy Ebsen’s character, on the long-running TV series “The Beverly Hillbillies”, for which she was nominated for Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 1963 and 1964. Most people don’t remember much of her and wonder what happened to the famous Granny after the end of the show. Sadly, she passed away in 1973, only two years after the show ended. She was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor but later died from complications of a stroke in 1973 at the age of 70.
