Minty made his presence felt in the Hollywood film industry with his portrayal of the Feral Kid in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, a 1981 film. He also starred in a number of other films such as The Flying Doctors, Fluteman, and The Winds of Jarrah, but none of them had been able to garner more praise for Emil as much as his role in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior.
