A miller tells the king that his daughter can weave straw into gold only to have the king order her to do so under pain of death. To succeed the girl makes a deal with an imp. He agrees to weave straw into gold if she gives him her firstborn child. She doesn’t give the baby up, and the imp says that if she guesses his name, he’ll leave them alone. She hears him sing it, and when she tells him his true name, the imp tears himself into two.
