Ronald William Howard, popularly known as Ron Howard, is an actor and filmmaker. He entered the film industry as a child actor and starred in several TV series, including an episode of The Twilight Zone. He became a household name for playing Opie Taylor, the son of Sheriff Andy Taylor, played by Andy Griffin, in the sitcom The Andy Griffith Show from 1960 until 1968. After this show came to an end, Howard was cast in many films and shows throughout the years. In 1977, Howard made his first directorial debut for the comedy film Grand Theft Auto. He directed the biographical and commercially successful film A Beautiful Mind which won him won the Academy Award for Best Director and Academy Award for Best Picture. More than his successful career as an actor and filmmaker, he has had a successful marriage. Ron Howard married his wife, Cheryl, on June 7, 1975. Together, they have four children.
