Nursing is one field where the classic law of supply and demand really comes into play. With over a million of these professionals currently over 50, many are nearing retirement within a decade. This shift could spark higher demand for new nurses, and with demand comes the possibility of a tempting pay increase.
Hospitals remain optimistic that fresh recruits will step in, lured by both job security and the promise of higher wages. As older nurses retire, the opportunity for junior colleagues and incoming RNs only grows, making nursing a career path that’s gaining appeal for those ready to dive in.
