Ägypten – Zwischen Pharaonen und Fußball
Mit dem Land verbindet man Pyramiden, Pharaonen und weite Wüsten, selten aber Fußball. Das hat tatsächlich auch seinen Grund, denn das nordafrikanische Land ist nicht gerade für sein fußballerisches Talent bekannt. Dennoch schaffte es das ägyptische Team 2018 zum weltweit größten Fußballevent, schied jedoch schon in der Vorrunde als Gruppenletzter aus. Die ägyptischen Fußballfans kamen somit nicht lange in den Genuss des Turniers und hatten kaum Möglichkeit, ihre Leidenschaft zum Ausdruck zu bringen. Trotz allem konnten die Pharaonen, wie das Fußballteam auch genannt wird, ihren FIFA-Rang verbessern und kämpften sich auf Platz 39 vor, das sind 17 Ränge besser als noch im Jahr 2018.
