LA PREVALENZA DELLA PAURA TRA I MEDICI SOVIETICI
Quando si parla di radiazioni, le precauzioni sono assolutamente necessarie. Ma se guardiamo alla risposta dell’Unione Sovietica all’incidente di Chernobyl, possiamo definirla una reazione sottodimensionata. Tuttavia, per quanto riguarda la salute, l’Unione Sovietica sembrava sovrareagire. Leucemia e cancro sono malattie comuni che possono essere causate dalle radiazioni, ma i medici sovietici sono andati oltre suggerendo che tutte le donne in gravidanza dovessero sottoporsi ad aborti per salvare i loro bambini. C’era il timore che i bambini potessero nascere con problemi di salute e ciò avrebbe messo un punto interrogativo sul futuro dell’Unione Sovietica.
