L’AMBIENTE COLPITO DA UNA DEVASTAZIONE SENZA PRECEDENTI
L’impatto delle radiazioni è stato così devastante che ha rappresentato una minaccia per l’intero ambiente. Dopo l’esplosione, un gran numero di alberi nei dintorni di Chernobyl morì immediatamente. Un gruppo di pini vicino al reattore quattro cambiò istantaneamente colore diventando rosso-marrone e fu così chiamato “Foresta Rossa”. Gli alberi furono tagliati automaticamente per evitare che gli alberi vicini venissero colpiti. Negli ultimi tempi, la fauna presente a Chernobyl e nei suoi dintorni ha avuto una crescita inferiore rispetto ad altre zone. Questa devastazione è difficile da dimenticare e l’ambiente sta pagando il prezzo, poiché gli alberi, come gli esseri umani, non hanno polizze assicurative su cui fare affidamento.
