News programs are usually carefully organized but can experience unexpected problems. One such case is when reporters fail to communicate with one another, causing awkward transitions through segments. This occurred with Tomasz Schafernaker in 2018 while he was on air, unaware that he had already gone live.
The “BBC Weather” correspondent could be seen saying “hello” and fiddling with his clothing and nails, presumably waiting for a response. Viewers would have been puzzled, seeing the meteorologist appear so perplexed. In 2010, Schafernaker made another mistake when he jokingly gave the finger to a colleague, only to be alarmed when he realized it was being broadcast.
