The thriller movie “Jaws” is one of the most successful of its kind, creating a renewed fear of sharks. It didn’t help that these creatures can have up to 3,000 teeth in their lifetime, so it’s not surprising that many people suffer from a fear of this aquatic beast.
However, this swimming in the picture is not at all dangerous. Hammerhead sharks, which belong to the family Sphyrnidae, are recognizable because of their unique head shape, which is known as a cephalofoil. This distinct hammer-shaped structure is said to heighten the animal’s sensory perception, which helps it detect prey easier and faster.
