Dante’s Peak In Real Life
Is this the gateway to hell? During a volcanic eruption, molten rock and ash are explosively ejected from the volcano, sometimes at high speeds and over great distances. This reminds us of the 1997 movie “Dante’s Peak,” a disaster picture directed by Roger Donaldson and starring Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton.
Explosive eruptions can produce pyroclastic flows, clouds of hot ash, gas, and rock that can travel up to 100 kilometers per hour and reach temperatures of up to 1,000 degrees Celsius. This can be highly destructive, destroying everything in their path and burying large areas. Still, this drone shot is so cool!
