Hippos Looking For A Meal
This drone shot by Martin Sanchez is called “Hungry Hippos” and was taken when he visited Tanzania. He didn’t expect to capture such a striking image that it would land him in first place in the 2018 Dronestagram contest. From above, it would seem that these animals were having a blast while bathing.
There’s no cannibalism happening here because hippos, which can hold their breath for up to five minutes while submerged in water, are herbivores, meaning they feed on plants, grass, fruit, and other vegetation. Just like what we see in this shot, they spend their day lounging in mud or water.
