It’s not easy to become a professional figure skater. But the pressure’s particularly daunting in the figure-skating category of pair skating, which requires two times the coordination. Unfortunately, falls are relatively common in both regular figure skating and pair skating; but what can athletes do to avoid getting seriously hurt?
According to the Rose Physical Therapy Group, it’s all a case of directing one’s body towards the side of one’s behind, as the muscles in our bottom (including the glutes) are the ones that provide the most padding. Unfortunately, the female figure skater in the photo went down with her stomach first.
