Mas no ano de 2012, uma senhora chamada Sharon Preston-Folta disse ser sua filha, fruto do caso que Louis teve com uma certa Lucille Preston. A alegação foi corroborada por uma carta enviada por Armstrong ao seu gerente ou seu consultor de planejamento financeiro no ano de 1955, instruindo-o a pagar uma mesada para Lucille e Sharon.
